All entries on the day. The show reserves the right to change judges, or the running order, to allow for the smooth running of the show. Classes may be amalgamated, or split, depending on entries. Any changes will be announced. In all situations, the judge’s decision is final.

Horse Jumping

Arena 1 – 9.30am

 

ENTRY FEE £12 PRIZES IN KIND

Course designed by international course designer Raymond Jess

 

EVENT 1 – 70cm.

 

EVENT 2 – 80cm

 

EVENT 3 – The Saintfield Horse Show Affiliated Riding Club Show Jumping Championship.

The winner will receive the Down District Council Perpetual Challenge Cup. This will be a senior individual competition where the maximum height of the fence will not exceed 90cm. In the event of equal faults, the best time will decide.

 

EVENT 4 – Amateur Show Jumping Championship

The winner will receive The Jim Monaghan Car Sales Perpetual Challenge Cup. Fences will not exceed 85 – 90 cm. In the event of equal faults, time will decide.

 

EVENT 5 – Novice Show Jumping Championship

The winner will receive The One Stop Mortgage Perpetual Challenge Cup. Fences will not exceed 90cm, in the event of equal faults time will decide. A special prize will be presented to the leading lady rider.

 

EVENT 6 – Open Horse Championship.

The winner will receive a Perpetual Challenge Trophy. Fences will not exceed 1m, in the event of equal faults time will decide

 

 

Pony Jumping

Arena 2 – 10am

EVENT 1 – Grass Hoppers Starter Stakes

Open to children under 10 years with very little experience. Ponies may be led. Rosettes will be awarded to all riders in this event.

 

EVENT 2 – Cross Poles

 

EVENT 3 – 40cm.

 

EVENT 4 – 50cm.

 

EVENT 5 – 60cm.

 

EVENT 6 – The Pony Club Novice Stakes

This event is for Pony Club Members only. Fences not to exceed 75cm.

 

EVENT 7 – 75cm.

Fences not to exceed 90cm. In the event of equal faults in the first round ponies will jump against the clock.

Working Hunter Classes

Working Hunter Pony

COMMENCING 10AM ENTRY FEE £12 PRIZES IN KIND

Course designed and constructed by David McClurg.

 

CLASS 1 – Beginners Working Hunter

Riders under 16. Open to all heights of pony.

Maximum Height of fence is 40cm.

 

CLASS 2 – Cradle Stakes

Riders under 12. Not exceeding 133cm.

Maximum height of fence is 55cm.

 

CLASS 3 – Novice Working Hunter

Riders under 20. Not exceeding 153cm.

Maximum height of fence is 65cm.

 

CLASS 4 – Performance Working Hunter

Any height, Maximum height of fence is 70cm.

 

CLASS 5 – Performance Working Hunter

Any height, Maximum height of fence is 80cm.

 

 Working Hunter Pony Championship

Competitors will be the 1st and 2nd prize winners from classes 4 and 5.

 

CLASS 6 – Derby

Any height, Maximum height of fence is 1m.

Riders 15 years and over. Horse or pony suitable for a days hacking. Will be judged 50/50 for suitability and manners

 

CLASS 17 – Riding Horse

Over 153cm. Riders to be 15 years or older.

 

CLASS 18 – Riding Horse

Over 148cm. but not exceeding 158cm.

Riding Horse Championship

CLASS 19 – “DOWNPATRICK RACE COURSE” RACE HORSE TO RIDING HORSE CLASS:-

The winner will win a fabulous day out at Downpatrick Races on Ladies Day Bank Holiday Monday 29th August, where they will receive a delicious lunch in the race course’s elegant hospitality suite followed by live music.

All competitors in this class will receive a beautiful rosette and 2 admission tickets for the Ladies Day race meeting

 

CLASS 20 –   “ULSTER TATLER” LADIES SIDE SADDLE CLASS:-
Open to Ladies 15 years and over Riding Side Saddle. This is an Equitation Class but the show would request that if possible Ladies would wear Full Hunting Costume but will not be marked down if they don’t.

This is a novelty event where all prize winners will receive a bottle of Powers Whiskey

The Supreme Hunter Champion of the Show will be awarded the Lagan Construction Perpetual Challenge Cup.
